No. HR/REC/C-97/MTT/2025 dated 12 November 2025 for the recruitment of 124 Management Trainee (Technical) (MTT) in various engineering disciplines.

SAIL MTT Eligibility Criteria 2025

1. Age Limit (as on 05.12.2025)

You must be born on or after 05 December 1997.

2. Educational Qualification

You must have a Degree in Engineering with minimum 65% marks (average of all semesters).
For SC/ST/PwBD/Departmental candidates – minimum 55% marks.

Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Power Electronics, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electrical Instrumentation, Power Engineering, High Voltage Engg, etc.

Instrumentation Engineering

Includes:
Electronics, Electronics & Instrumentation, Electronics & Communication, Industrial Electronics, Control Engineering, Applied Electronics, Mechatronics, Robotics & Automation, Instrumentation Technology, etc.

Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical Engg, Production Engg, Industrial Engg, Manufacturing, Thermal Engg, Energy Engg, Mechatronics, Tool Engineering, etc.

Metallurgy

• Metallurgical Engineering
• Material Science & Engineering
• Industrial Metallurgy

Note: Qualification must be full-time and from UGC/AICTE-recognized institutes only.

SAIL Medical Standards

To be selected, You must meet the following minimum standards:

• Minimum Weight: 45 kg
• Minimum Height: 155 cm
• Vision: Myopia/Hypermetropia not exceeding ±4.00
• No color blindness
• PwBD eligible only for:
  • OA (One Arm)
  • OL (One Leg)
  • OAL (One Arm & One Leg)
  • Dwarfism (DW)

Final appointment depends on passing the SAIL Medical Examination.

SAIL MTT Selection Process 2025

The selection process consists of:

1. Computer Based Test (CBT)
2. Group Discussion (GD)
3. Personal Interview (PI)
4. Document Verification & Medical Test

1. SAIL MTT Exam Pattern 2025

The online examination is 200 marks divided into:

Part 1 – Domain Knowledge Test

• Marks: 100
• Duration: 40 minutes

Part 2 – Aptitude Test

• Marks: 100
• Duration: 80 minutes
• Sections:
  • Quantitative Aptitude – 25 marks
  • Reasoning – 25 marks
  • English Language – 25 marks
  • General Awareness – 25 marks

Minimum Qualifying Marks

Only those who qualify CBT are shortlisted for GD + Interview (in 1:3 ratio).

2. GD & Interview Weightage

The final merit list is prepared based on the combined score.

Tie-breaking rules:

1. Higher marks in CBT
2. If still tied, higher marks in Engineering Degree

Training and Probation

• Training Duration: 1 year (as Apprentice under Apprentices Act, 1961)
• Probation Period: 1 year after training

SAIL MTT Salary 2025

During Training

• Basic Pay: ₹50,000 per month
• Pay Scale: ₹50,000 – ₹1,60,000

After Training (As Assistant Manager – E1 Grade)

• Basic Pay: ₹60,000 – ₹1,80,000

No transfer allowed for first 4 years (2 years for departmental candidates).
