SBI Junior Associate Recruitment 2026 – 9124 Vacancies, Apply Online

The State Bank of India (SBI) has released the detailed notification for recruitment to the post of Junior Associate (Customer Support & Sales) in the clerical cadre. The recruitment is being conducted under Advertisement No. CRPD/CR/2026-27/17. Eligible Indian citizens can apply online from 11 August 2026 to 31 August 2026.

This recruitment offers 7,680 regular vacancies and 1,444 backlog vacancies, making 9,124 vacancies in total. Candidates can apply for vacancies in one State/UT only and must possess proficiency in the specified local language of the State/UT selected in the application.

The recruitment notification contains 7,680 regular vacancies and 1,444 backlog vacancies. The regular vacancies are distributed across different SBI Circles/States/UTs.

SBI Junior Associate Eligibility Criteria 2026

Candidates must satisfy the prescribed age and educational qualification requirements.

Age Limit

The candidate’s age should be:

• Minimum Age: 20 years
• Maximum Age: 28 years
• Age calculated as on 01 April 2026
• Candidate must have been born between 02 April 1998 and 01 April 2006, both dates inclusive.

Age Relaxation

The notification specifically states that cumulative age relaxation is not available by combining different categories. Candidates claiming relaxation must submit the required supporting certificates at the prescribed stage.

Educational Qualification

Candidates should have a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognised University or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government.

The qualification is considered as on 31 December 2026. Candidates in the final year/semester of graduation may also apply provisionally, but if selected, they must produce proof of passing the graduation examination on or before 31 December 2026.

Matriculate Ex-Servicemen possessing the prescribed Indian Army Special Certificate of Education or corresponding Navy/Air Force certificate, after completing at least 15 years of service, are also eligible subject to the conditions mentioned in the notification.

Local Language Requirement

One of the most important conditions of SBI Junior Associate Recruitment 2026 is the local language requirement.

Candidates must be proficient in reading, writing, speaking and understanding the specified local language of the State/UT for which they apply.

• Telangana – Telugu/Urdu
• Karnataka – Kannada
• Tamil Nadu – Tamil
• Maharashtra – Marathi
• Odisha – Odia
• Gujarat – Gujarati
• Rajasthan – Hindi
• Uttar Pradesh – Hindi/Urdu

Candidates who have studied the specified local language in 10th or 12th standard and can produce the relevant mark sheet/certificate will generally not have to appear for the separate language test.

Candidates who have not studied the specified language will have to qualify in the Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT) after provisional selection but before joining. Failure to qualify will result in non-appointment.

SBI Junior Associate Selection Process 2026

The SBI JA selection process consists of three stages:

Phase I – Preliminary Examination

The Preliminary Examination is an online objective test for 100 marks with a duration of one hour.

Each section has separate timing. There is a negative marking of 1/4th mark for every wrong answer. No minimum qualifying marks are prescribed for individual sections or the aggregate score, as stated in the notification.

Candidates will be shortlisted for the Main Examination based on aggregate Preliminary Examination performance, with the Bank indicating that approximately 10 times the number of vacancies, subject to availability, may be shortlisted.

Phase II – Main Examination

The Main Examination carries 200 marks and has a total duration of 2 hours 40 minutes.

There is 1/4th negative marking for wrong answers in the objective tests. Minimum aggregate qualifying marks will be decided by the Bank, with a 5% relaxation available for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/XS/DXS candidates as prescribed.

Importantly, Preliminary Examination marks are not added to the final merit list. The final merit is based on the aggregate marks obtained in the Main Examination, subject to the other prescribed conditions.

Phase III – Local Language Proficiency Test

Provisionally selected candidates who have not studied the specified local language in Class 10 or 12 must appear for the Local Language Proficiency Test.

The test includes non-verbal and verbal components. Candidates must secure the minimum qualifying marks prescribed by SBI. Candidates who fail the local language test will not be offered appointment.

Final Merit List

The merit list will be prepared State-wise and category-wise.

The Preliminary Examination is only a screening stage. The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination will not be considered for final selection. The Main Examination marks are used for preparation of the merit list.

Final selection is subject to:

1. Verification of eligibility.
2. Verification of information provided in the application.
3. Qualification in the Local Language Proficiency Test wherever applicable.
4. Fulfilment of all other recruitment conditions.

SBI will also maintain a wait list of up to 50% of vacancies State/category-wise, subject to the conditions specified in the notification.

SBI Junior Associate Salary 2026

The SBI Junior Associate pay scale is:

₹24,050 – 1,340/3 – 28,070 – 1,650/3 – 33,020 – 2,000/4 – 41,020 – 2,340/7 – 57,400 – 4,400/1 – 61,800 – 2,680/1 – ₹64,480.

The starting Basic Pay is ₹26,730, which includes two advance increments admissible to graduates.

The notification states that the total starting emoluments for a Clerical Cadre employee posted in a metropolitan city such as Mumbai will be around ₹46,000 per month, inclusive of DA, applicable allowances and the additional increments for newly recruited graduate Junior Associates. Actual allowances may vary according to the place of posting.

Selected Junior Associates will have a minimum probation period of six months.
