CPCB Recruitment 2026 –  Apply Online for 51 Scientist, Assistant, DEO & Field Assistant Posts

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has released a recruitment notification for 51 contractual vacancies under the Strengthening of Environmental Regulators (SER) – Phase-III Project on River Ganga. The project is executed by CPCB and funded under the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) through the Namami Gange Programme. Eligible Indian Nationals can submit their applications through the CPCB online recruitment portal.

The recruitment includes posts such as Scientist-D, Scientist-C, Scientist-B, Assistant Manager (Finance), Administrative Assistant, Scientific Assistant, Taxonomist, Data Entry Operator and Field Assistant. The monthly consolidated remuneration ranges from Rs. 38,741 to Rs. 1,71,597, depending on the post.

The online application process starts on 24 August 2026 at 10:00 AM, and the last date to submit the application is 07 September 2026 up to 11:59 PM. There is no application fee for any of the advertised posts.

The appointments are initially for a period of one year and may be extended depending on project requirements and the performance of the selected candidates. These are purely contractual positions and do not provide any right to regularization or absorption into regular CPCB vacancies.

CPCB has announced a total of 51 vacancies across nine different posts.

CPCB Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates should carefully check the educational qualification, experience and age requirement for the particular post before submitting the online application. The qualification and experience will be reckoned as on the last date of application.

1. Scientist-D

Candidates should possess a First Class Master’s degree in Environmental Science/Natural Science or a First Class Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology in Environmental, Chemical, Civil, Energy and Environment or Biotechnology.

Candidates must also satisfy the publication/technical-report requirement mentioned in the notification and possess seven years of relevant practical experience in areas such as river pollution control, industrial pollution, sewage management and environmental management.

The upper age limit is 50 years and the consolidated remuneration is Rs. 1,71,597 per month.

2. Scientist-C

For Scientist-C, candidates need a First Class Master’s degree in Environmental Science/Natural Science or a First Class Bachelor’s degree in the specified Engineering/Technology disciplines.

The notification requires the prescribed publication/book/technical report credentials and five years of relevant practical experience. The upper age limit is 45 years, with a consolidated monthly remuneration of Rs. 1,48,997.

3. Scientist-B

Candidates should have a First Class Master’s degree in Environmental Science/Natural Science or a First Class Bachelor’s degree in the specified Engineering/Technology disciplines.

A valid GATE score with 90% or above percentile or NET-JRF qualification is required. Candidates should also have three years of relevant experience. Relevant research or teaching experience may also be considered.

The upper age limit is 35 years, and the monthly consolidated remuneration is Rs. 1,25,380.

4. Assistant Manager (Finance)

Candidates should have a First Class Master’s degree in Commerce with Finance & Accounting/Taxation, or be a Chartered Accountant, or hold an MBA in Finance & Accounting.

The post requires eight years of post-qualification experience in the relevant field. Experience in computer applications, MS Word, Excel, spreadsheets, databases, taxation, Tally/QuickBooks, online returns such as TDS/GST/PF/ESI and payroll management is specified.

The upper age limit is 35 years, and the consolidated salary is Rs. 1,19,272 per month.

5. Administrative Assistant

Applicants should possess a First Class Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or equivalent, along with working knowledge of computers.

The notification requires at least five years of post-qualification administrative experience, preferably in Government/PSU/Autonomous Bodies in the relevant area. Candidates must also pass the skill test based on noting and drafting.

The upper age limit is 35 years, and the consolidated remuneration is Rs. 77,654 per month.

6. Scientific Assistant

Candidates should have a First Class Master’s degree in Environmental Science/Natural Science or a First Class Bachelor’s degree in the specified Engineering/Technology disciplines.

A valid GATE score with 90% or above percentile or NET-JRF qualification is required. The upper age limit is 35 years, with a consolidated salary of Rs. 77,654 per month.

7. Taxonomist

Candidates should possess a First Class M.Sc. A Master’s degree in Botany or Zoology with a minimum of 75% marks or equivalent is desirable.

The notification also specifies GATE/NET-JRF and publication/book/technical-report requirements. The upper age limit is 35 years, and the consolidated remuneration is Rs. 65,031 per month.

8. Data Entry Operator

Candidates should possess a First Class Bachelor’s degree in Science/BCA.

They must pass a computer skill test covering MS Office applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint. The prescribed typing speed is 45 words per minute in English and 35 words per minute in Hindi.

The upper age limit is 32 years, and the consolidated remuneration is Rs. 57,498 per month.

9. Field Assistant

Candidates should have passed 10+2 in Science with a minimum of 55% marks and possess knowledge of water/wastewater sampling and sample preservation.

The upper age limit is 27 years, and the consolidated remuneration is Rs. 38,741 per month.

General Eligibility Conditions

The notification states that candidates must be Indian Nationals. Qualifying degrees must be from recognized Indian Universities/Institutes, and full-time regular courses are specified for the relevant M.Sc./Engineering/Technology qualifications.

Candidates whose final-year results are awaited are not eligible. Candidates holding a valid degree or provisional certificate as on the closing date may apply. No age relaxation is specified for in-service candidates, ex-servicemen or weaker sections.

Selection Process

The CPCB recruitment process involves application screening, document verification and interview, with the possibility of a written test depending on the number of applications and the screening requirements.

Only candidates meeting the prescribed educational qualification and experience requirements will be considered for the recruitment process. If a large number of candidates apply, the screening committee may shortlist candidates based on a written examination, percentage of marks, relevant experience, desirable qualifications, higher qualifications or other criteria considered appropriate by the committee.

Candidates who qualify the document verification and screening process will be called for an interview by the Selection Committee. The notification also states that selection may be based on a written test followed by an interview.

The interview will be conducted in Delhi. Candidates attending the interview must bring their original documents and self-attested photocopies for verification. No TA/DA or accommodation will be provided for attending the interview.

Step 1 – Registration

1. Visit the official CPCB website.
2. Open the Jobs section.

4. Start the online registration process.
5. Enter your name exactly as mentioned in the degree certificate.
6. Select the post for which you are eligible.
