IOB Security Guard Job Profile

Eligibility Criteria

Nationality

Age Limit

Age relaxation is available to eligible Ex-Servicemen and Ex-Agniveers according to the category and period of service.

The maximum age limit of 45 years specified for Ex-Servicemen applies uniformly, including reserved-category candidates. Persons with Disabilities, Disabled Ex-Servicemen and Dependants of Servicemen killed in action are not eligible for this recruitment.

Candidates currently serving in the Armed Forces can also apply under the Ex-Servicemen category if their specific period of engagement is completed on or before 30 September 2026, subject to the conditions in the notification.

Educational Qualification

Candidates should have:

1. Passed 10th Standard or equivalent examination.
2. The candidate should not have passed Graduation or an equivalent examination.
3. The candidate should be able to speak, read and write Tamil.
4. The candidate’s character should be “EXEMPLARY” at the time of valid discharge from the Armed Forces.

Salary / Pay Scale

Selection Process

Online Objective Test

The online test carries 80 marks.

The Tamil Local Language Test carries an additional 20 marks. The Bank will decide the qualifying cut-off scores depending on candidate performance and vacancies and reserves the right to modify the test structure where required.

Physical Fitness Test

Candidates who qualify in the Online Test and Tamil Language Test and satisfy the other eligibility requirements will be considered for the Physical Fitness Test.

Candidates must compulsorily pass each of the four physical fitness tests with the prescribed minimum marks. The test will be conducted at Chennai, and only one attempt is permitted for each physical fitness test.

For the 1-kilometre run, candidates completing the run in less than four minutes receive 30 marks, while timings of 4–5 minutes and 5–6 minutes receive 20 and 10 marks respectively. A time of more than six minutes is treated as a failure.

Before the Physical Fitness Test, candidates have to undergo a medical fitness examination and submit a medical fitness certificate from a medical practitioner with the required registration/rank. The certificate should not be more than 15 days old on the date of the Physical Fitness Test.
