ISRO Scientist Engineer SC Recruitment 2026: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), through the ISRO Centralised Recruitment Board (ICRB), has released a new recruitment notification for the post of Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’. The recruitment is being conducted for candidates holding a BE/B.Tech or equivalent degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science Engineering.

The vacancy table in the advertisement specifies 99 Electronics, 52 Mechanical, 21 Computer Science and one vacancy each for the corresponding PRL posts. Some PwBD vacancies are marked as backlog vacancies. ISRO also states that the notified vacancy numbers are tentative and may be increased or decreased through a corrigendum.


ISRO Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Candidates should possess a BE/B.Tech or equivalent degree in the relevant engineering discipline.

For Electronics, the required qualification is BE/B.Tech or equivalent in Electronics & Communication Engineering with an aggregate minimum of 65% marks or CGPA 6.84/10.

For Mechanical, candidates must have BE/B.Tech or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering with at least 65% marks or CGPA 6.84/10.

For Computer Science, candidates must have BE/B.Tech or equivalent in Computer Science Engineering with an aggregate minimum of 65% marks or CGPA 6.84/10.

The graduation must have been completed within the stipulated duration of the course prescribed by the university. Allied disciplines acceptable under the three engineering streams are mentioned in the FAQ issued against the advertisement.

Candidates should also carefully check the notification’s provisions concerning CGPA and percentage. Where both percentage and CGPA are mentioned, at least one must meet the prescribed ISRO/DOS eligibility requirement. Where only CGPA is mentioned, the CGPA itself must meet the required criterion; conversion of CGPA into percentage is not permitted for determining eligibility.

Age Limit

The maximum age is 28 years as on 16 September 2026.

Serving Central Government civilian employees, Ex-Servicemen and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities are eligible for age relaxation according to the applicable Government of India orders.

Nationality

Only Indian nationals are eligible to apply for these posts.


ISRO Scientist Engineer SC Salary 2026

Selected candidates will be appointed as Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’ in Level 10 of the Pay Matrix.

The minimum basic pay is ₹56,100 per month. In addition to basic pay, selected employees will be eligible for applicable Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA) and Transport Allowance.

The notification also mentions benefits such as medical facilities for employees and dependants, subsidised canteen facilities, limited quarters facility, Leave Travel Concession, Group Insurance and House Building Advance as applicable under Central Government rules. Employees will be governed by the New Pension Scheme.


ISRO Scientist Engineer SC Selection Process 2026

The selection process consists mainly of a Written Test/Computer Based Test (CBT) followed by an Interview.

Written Test / CBT

The written test is divided into two parts.

Part A contains 80 discipline-specific multiple-choice questions. Each correct answer carries one mark, unanswered questions receive zero marks and each incorrect answer attracts negative marking of one-third mark.

Part B consists of aptitude/ability questions covering areas such as numerical reasoning, logical reasoning, diagrammatic reasoning, abstract reasoning and deductive reasoning. There is no negative marking in Part B.

The written test/CBT will be conducted at multiple venues including Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Thiruvananthapuram and other cities. ICRB reserves the right to change or cancel a test venue and re-allot candidates if required.


Written Test Qualifying Marks

For unreserved candidates, the requirement is 50% in both Part A and Part B.

For PwBD candidates where the post is reserved, the requirement is 40% in both Part A and Part B.

Interview

Candidates will be shortlisted for interview based on written-test performance in a 1:5 ratio, with an aggregate minimum of 10 candidates. For reserved vacancies, additional/distinct candidates may be shortlisted as specified in the notification.

The interview carries 100 marks and assesses candidates on several parameters:

The final panel will give 50% weightage to written-test marks and 50% weightage to interview marks. For unreserved candidates, the qualifying criteria are 50% in the written test, 50% in the interview and 60% aggregate. For PwBD candidates where posts are reserved, the corresponding criteria are 40%, 40% and 50%.


ISRO Scientist Engineer SC Application Fee

The notification specifies a ₹250 non-refundable application fee for all posts. Initially, all candidates have to pay ₹750 as processing fee.

The payment is accepted online through the Bharatkosh e-Payment gateway using Internet Banking, UPI or domestic Debit Cards. Cash, cheque, demand draft, money order or IPO are not accepted.

Candidates should enter correct bank details because the processing-fee refund will be credited to the bank account provided in the application. No refund will be considered if the candidate does not appear for the Written Test/CBT.


Documents Required

Candidates should keep the following documents ready before submitting the application:

  • Recent colour passport-size photograph.
  • Candidate’s signature.
  • Applicable SC/ST certificate, PwBD certificate or Ex-Servicemen certificate, wherever applicable for fee refund.
  • Educational qualification documents.
  • Age proof.
  • Category certificate, wherever applicable.
  • Original documents for verification at the interview.
  • NOC from the employer for candidates working in Government departments, PSUs, autonomous bodies or similar organisations.

The photograph should be in JPG/JPEG format, preferably 200 × 230 pixels, with a file size of 100–200 KB. The signature should preferably be 140 × 60 pixels and should be in the prescribed file-size range of 80–150 KB. The photograph must be recent, clear and in colour, while the signature should be made with black ink on white paper and should not be in capital letters.

Candidates should produce original documents at the interview. If information furnished online is found to be false, the candidate will not be permitted to attend the interview and TA will not be paid.

The application portal will remain available from 27 August 2026 until 16 September 2026 at 11:55 PM. The registered email ID must be entered correctly because hall tickets/call letters for the written test and interview for screened-in candidates will be sent through email.
