Age Limit

Candidates must satisfy the following age requirements:

• Minimum Age: 18 Years
• Maximum Age: 25 Years
• Age will be calculated as on 01 January 2027
• Candidates born between 01 January 2002 and 01 January 2009, including both dates, are eligible to apply.

Educational Qualification

The educational qualification depends on the pay level.

Candidates awaiting the results of their final qualifying examination are not eligible to apply. Candidates possessing higher qualifications must produce the relevant certificates during the selection process.

Sports Achievement Eligibility

Western Railway Sports Quota Selection Process 2026

The selection process is based primarily on Sports Trials and Merit Assessment.

All eligible candidates will be called for a trial. Only candidates declared FIT by the Trial Committee will move to the next stage of the recruitment process.

Candidates must score at least 25 marks out of 40 for game skill, physical fitness and the coach’s observations during the trial to be considered FIT. Candidates declared NOT FIT will not be assessed further.

Distribution of Marks

Minimum Qualifying Marks

Final appointment will be made purely on the basis of merit. If two or more candidates obtain the same marks, preference will be given to the younger candidate.

Western Railway Sports Quota Application Fee

For most candidates paying ₹500, ₹400 may be refunded, subject to the conditions mentioned in the notification, if they are found eligible and actually appear in the trial.

For SC/ST, Ex-Servicemen, PwD, Women, Minority and EBC candidates, the ₹250 fee has a provision for refund subject to eligibility and appearance in the trial, after applicable bank charges.

The application fee must be paid online through the integrated payment gateway using options such as Debit Card, Credit Card, Internet Banking or UPI.
