GSRTC Helper Recruitment 2026: 2510 Posts, Eligibility, Salary, Selection Process, Apply Online

Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) has released a recruitment notification for Helper posts. According to the official notification, a total of 2,510 Helper vacancies are available. Eligible candidates can submit their applications online through the Gujarat OJAS portal.

The online application process starts on 7 September 2026 and the last date to submit the application is 6 October 2026 up to 11:59 PM. Candidates will be selected through a 100-mark MCQ-based competitive examination, followed by document verification. The final merit will give 90% weightage to the written examination and 10% weightage to the relevant Apprenticeship certificate.

The notification states that selected candidates will initially receive ₹21,100 per month as fixed pay for five years. After satisfactory completion of five years of service, candidates may become eligible for regular appointment in the applicable basic pay according to the prevailing rules.

GSRTC Helper Vacancy 2026

GSRTC has announced 2,510 Helper posts. The category-wise distribution given in the notification is as follows:

In addition to the category-wise allocation, the notification provides 502 vacancies for Ex-Servicemen and 52 vacancies for PwD candidates under the applicable reservation provisions. These are horizontal reservation figures and should not be added separately to the total 2,510 vacancies.

GSRTC has also reserved the right to increase or decrease the number of vacancies and make changes in the reservation roster as per applicable rules.

GSRTC Helper Eligibility Criteria 2026

Candidates should carefully check the eligibility conditions before submitting the online application.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have passed at least one eligible trade from a Government-recognized ITI.

Apprenticeship Qualification

Candidates who have completed Apprenticeship in the same ITI trade mentioned as their minimum qualification can receive additional weightage.

For example, if a candidate has completed ITI Electrician and Apprenticeship in Electrician trade, the Apprenticeship qualification can be considered for the additional weightage. Apprenticeship in a different trade will not qualify for this additional benefit.

Age Limit

The minimum age is 18 years.

For the General category, the maximum age is generally:

• Male: 35 years
• Female: 40 years

For reserved categories, Ex-Servicemen and PwD candidates, the notification provides applicable age relaxations, subject to the specified conditions. In all cases, the maximum age after applicable relaxation should not exceed 45 years.

The age will be calculated as on 6 October 2026. The notification specifies the general age range as 18 to 35 years and gives the corresponding relaxation rules for different categories.

Other Requirements

Candidates must have clear vision as specified in the notification and must also possess the required computer knowledge/certificate as applicable. The computer qualification may be fulfilled through an approved training certificate, diploma, degree, certificate course or an educational qualification in which computer was a subject.

GSRTC Helper Selection Process 2026

The selection process is mainly based on a 100-mark MCQ competitive examination and Apprenticeship weightage.

Weightage

Candidates who fulfil the notification requirements will be called for the 100-mark MCQ examination. Based on the combined weightage, a merit list will be prepared. Candidates may then be called for document verification in a ratio of approximately 1.5 candidates per vacancy, or according to the Corporation’s requirements.

Written Exam Pattern

The examination will contain 100 questions for 100 marks and the duration will be 2 hours. The paper will generally be in Gujarati, except for English Grammar questions.

Negative Marking

The notification specifies 0.25 marks negative marking for each wrong answer, blank answer, correction/erasure or multiple options marked. However, if a candidate does not wish to answer and marks option E on the OMR sheet, the 0.25-mark deduction will not apply. Candidates scoring zero or below in the OMR competitive examination will not be eligible for document verification.

GSRTC Helper Salary 2026

Selected candidates will initially be appointed to the Helper post on a contractual basis with a fixed monthly salary of ₹21,100.

The fixed-pay arrangement will continue for five years. After satisfactory completion of five years, candidates may become eligible for regular appointment in the applicable basic pay according to the Corporation’s prevailing rules.

Candidates should note that benefits and allowances will be provided only as permitted under the applicable rules during the fixed-pay period.

GSRTC Helper Application Fee 2026

Candidates are required to pay the prescribed online process fee.

The notification states that the online process fee is non-refundable. The fee can be paid through the OJAS online payment gateway.
