About Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC)

Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) is one of India’s oldest public sector power corporations, established in 1948 under a special Act for the development of the Damodar Valley region. The Damodar river basin spans approximately 24,235 sq. km across Jharkhand and West Bengal. The core objectives of DVC include industrial development, water management, electricity generation, and sustainable environmental practices.

The corporation plays a crucial role in India’s energy and industrial sector. It operates Thermal, Hydel, and Renewable power units, with a combined installed capacity exceeding 6700 MW. DVC aims to become a 15 GW power corporation by 2030, expanding its reach to new clean energy technologies and strengthening its transmission infrastructure.

DVC Executive Trainee Recruitment 2025 — Overview

This recruitment drive is a Special Drive for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwBD candidates, undertaken to fill backlog vacancies in engineering disciplines. The hiring will be based ONLY on GATE 2025 scores, which means no written test or interview will be conducted.

You must appear in GATE 2025 in one of the corresponding engineering papers:

• Mechanical – ME
• Electrical – EE
• Civil – CE
• Instrumentation – IN

Job Profile — Executive Trainee (ET)

The role of Executive Trainees at DVC is considered prestigious and dynamic. If you are successful you join as trainees and later become Assistant Managers upon successful probation.

Responsibilities May Include:

• Operation & maintenance of power plants (thermal/hydel/renewable)
• Monitoring mechanical or electrical production systems
• Designing and maintaining preventive maintenance plans
• Implementing automation/process control systems
• Ensuring safety compliance and environmental standards
• Site planning and EPC vendor coordination
• Performing quality audits and project feasibility reviews

These tasks vary depending on the discipline and posting location.

Essential Qualifications

Qualifications must be from AICTE / Statutory Approved Institutions.

Executive Trainee – Mechanical (Post 2025/12)

Full-time BE/B.Tech in:

• Mechanical Engineering
• Production / Industrial Engg.
• Thermal
• Mechanical & Automation
• Power Engineering
  Minimum:
• 65% marks (OBC-NCL/EWS)
• 60% marks (SC/ST/PwBD)
  Aggregate must follow the university’s conversion system.

Executive Trainee – Electrical (Post 2025/13)

Full-time BE/B.Tech in:

• Electrical
• Electrical & Electronics
• Electrical + Instrumentation & Control
• Power Systems & High Voltage
• Power Electronics / Power Engineering
  Minimum:
• 65% (OBC-NCL/EWS)
• 60% (SC/ST/PwBD)

Executive Trainee – Civil (Post 2025/14)

Full-time BE/B.Tech in:

• Civil Engineering
  Minimum:
• 65% (OBC-NCL/EWS)
• 60% (SC/ST/PwBD)

Executive Trainee – C&I (Instrumentation) — Post 2025/15

Full-time BE/B.Tech in:

• Electronics & Instrumentation
• Instrumentation & Control
• Electronics + Instrumentation & Control
  Marks requirement:
• 65% OBC-NCL/EWS
• 60% SC/ST/PwBD

Important: Only GATE-2025 Marks are valid.
Old GATE marks (2024 and before) are not accepted.

Age Limit

Upper age limit as of final application date (UR):

• 29 years

Age Relaxation:

• OBC-NCL: +3 years
• SC/ST: +5 years
• PwBD:
  • OBC-PwBD → 13 years
  • SC/ST-PwBD → 15 years
• J&K domicile: +5 years
• Ex-servicemen: as per GOI rules

Departmental DVC candidates — No age limit.

Pay Scale & Salary

Selected ETs will be appointed in:

• Pay Matrix Level 10 (7th CPC)
• ₹56,100 – ₹1,77,500
  (Grade: M2)

Service Agreement (Bond)

You must sign a service bond for 4 years:

• 1 year probation + 3 years service commitment
  Bond amount:
• ₹5,00,000 — OBC-NCL
• ₹2,50,000 — SC/ST/PwBD
  Plus applicable interest.

Selection Process

The entire selection is based ONLY on GATE-2025 score out of 100.
No interview, no written test.

You will be shortlisted for Document Verification (DV) in a 1:5 ratio.
In case of tie → upper age you wins.

Medical Standards

Before joining, You must pass DVC pre-employment medical examination.
DVC medical board decision is final. No relaxation.

• GATE 2025 Admit Card & Scorecard
• Degree marksheets
• Valid Caste/Category certificate as per GOI format
• Address/Discharge certificate (where applicable)
• No Objection Certificate (if employed)
