1. Chairman – Permanent Lok Adalat
Number of Posts:
One per district
Eligibility Criteria:
The applicant must:
- Be a citizen of India.
- Be a retired District Judge or Additional District Judge.
- Possess knowledge of Marathi and ability to translate Marathi to English and vice versa.
- Must not have attained 65 years of age on the date of advertisement.
- Should not have been compulsorily retired, dismissed, or terminated from judicial service.
2. Member – Permanent Lok Adalat
Number of Posts:
Two per district
Eligibility Criteria:
The applicant must:
- Be a citizen of India.
- Be a person having knowledge and adequate experience in Public Utility Services under Section 22-A of the Legal Services Authorities Act.
- Have sufficient knowledge of Marathi language.
- Not have attained the age of 65 years.
- Should not have conflict of interest with Permanent Lok Adalat duties.
Tenure of Appointment
As per page 4 and page 12:
- Chairman: 5 years or until attaining 65 years of age, whichever is earlier.
- Member: 5 years or until attaining 65 years of age, whichever is earlier.
The decision of the Hon’ble Executive Chairman, MSLSA, Mumbai regarding appointment shall be final.
Remuneration Details
Chairman
- Monthly remuneration shall be last drawn pay minus pension, as per Government of Maharashtra rules.
- Entitled to conveyance allowance as per Government of India notification.
Member
- Rs. 22,500 per month (fixed honorarium).
- Entitled to conveyance allowance for attending sittings of Permanent Lok Adalat.
Selection Process
- Selection Committee consists of:
- Hon’ble Executive Chairman, MSLSA
- Hon’ble Judges nominated by the Chief Justice, Bombay High Court
- Patron-in-Chief, MSLSA
- Interview carries 20 marks.
- Minimum qualifying marks: 7 marks.
- Final selection subject to approval of Hon’ble Chief Justice, Bombay High Court.
