The Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC), Northern Railway, New Delhi, has released the official notification Employment Notice No. RRC/NR-04/2025 (Sports Quota) for the recruitment of eligible sportspersons under the Sports Quota for the year 2025–26. The recruitment is being conducted for 21 vacancies in various sports disciplines across Pay Levels 2, 3, 4, and 5 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix.

Vacancy Details – 21 Posts under Sports Quota

Online applications are invited from you are eligible Indian sportsperson  for 21 vacancies under Level 2, 3, 4, and 5 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix.

Sports-wise vacancy distribution

Total Vacancies: 21

Each sports discipline has unique eligibility norms which have been explained in the official notification.

Age Limit (as on 01 January 2026)

• Minimum Age: 18 years
• Maximum Age: 25 years
• No age relaxation (upper or lower age limit) is permitted.

You must have a valid Matriculation or equivalent certificate as proof of date of birth.

Educational Qualification

(A) For Posts in Pay Level 4 & 5

• Graduation in any discipline from a recognized University.

(B) For Posts in Pay Level 2 & 3

• Passed 12th (+2 stage) or equivalent
  from a recognized educational board.

Important Note:

• You are with higher educational qualifications you must also upload your Graduation/Post-Graduation certificate.
• Hindi or English typing proficiency will be verified for Clerk-cum-Typist categories.

Sports Qualification (Mandatory)

If you  have achieved sports norms on or after 01 April 2023 you will be eligible to apply.

You must be:

• In recognized National / International tournaments
• Verified through proper certificates
• Issued by authorized sports federations

Minimum Sports Norms for Recruitment for Pay Level 4 & 5

You must have at least:

• 3rd position in World Cup / World Championship (Junior/Senior)
  OR
• 3rd position in Commonwealth or Asian Games
  OR
• Represented India in International Championships (Senior category)

Minimum Sports Norms for Pay Level 2 & 3

At least:

• 3rd Position in Senior/Youth/Junior National Championships
  OR
• 3rd Position in National Games under IOA
  OR
• 1st Position in Federation Cup Championship

Additional Sports Norms

The notification includes detailed norms for:

Athletics

• Medaling in National Inter State Championships
• Gold Medal in Open National Championships
• Participation in Asian Championships

Hockey (Men & Women)

• Representation in International tournaments
• Semi-finalist in National Championships

Volleyball, Kabaddi, Archery, Weightlifting

• Achievements under National Sports Federations

Cricket (Women)

• Representation in India-A / India-U-19
• 2 Test matches or ODIs
• Senior/Junior National Championship performances

Junior National Championship Eligibility

Certain sports require achievements at Junior National Level (U-17, U-19, U-20 categories).
Recognized sports include:

• Archery
• Athletics
• Boxing
• Football
• Hockey
• Kho-Kho
• Table Tennis
• Badminton
• Weightlifting
• Kabaddi

Only certificates issued by authorized national bodies will be accepted.

Selection Procedure – RRC Northern Railway Sports Quota 2025

The selection process will include:

Step 1: Screening of Applications

All applications will be checked for:

• Eligibility
• Required certificates
• Sports achievements
• Age & education

Incomplete applications will be rejected.

Step 2: Document Verification

If you have shortlisted you will be called for:

• Birth Certificate
• Caste Certificate
• Sports Certificates
• Educational Certificates
• Photo ID (Aadhaar/Passport/Driving License)

Original documents must be shown.

Step 3: Sports Trials

The trial will assess:

A. Game Skill, Physical Fitness & Coach’s Assessment – 40 Marks

B. FIT Candidate – 25 Marks or More

C. NOT FIT Candidate – Below 25 Marks

You are declared NOT FIT you will not be considered for further process.

Step 4: Final Merit List

The final merit list will be prepared based on 60 Marks:

Minimum Qualifying Marks

• 70 Marks: Level 4 & 5
• 65 Marks: Level 2 & 3

In case two candidates score equal marks, the younger candidate will get preference.

Application / Trial / Examination Fee

Refund will be given only if you have appears in the trial.

Medical Examination

If you have selected you must pass the prescribed Railway Medical Fitness Standards based on your respective posts.

Period of Probation

If you have appointed you will undergo a 2-year probation period.

Place of Posting

You can be posted anywhere under Northern Railway jurisdiction, depending on administrative requirement.
