The South Eastern Railway (SER), Kolkata has released the Centralised Notification for Engagement of Act Apprentices for 2025–26 under the Apprentices Act, 1961. This recruitment offers thousands of apprenticeship training slots across various workshops and units in SER jurisdiction such as Kharagpur, Chakradharpur, Adra, Ranchi, Sini, Bondamunda, Santragachi, TPKR, and many more.

This is one of the largest railway apprentice notifications of the year, giving ITI-qualified you can opportunity to receive apprenticeship training in Railways and gain an NCVT/SCVT-recognized certificate, which is highly valuable for future government recruitment.

Overview of SER Apprentice Recruitment 2025

Eligibility Criteria

If you are  eligible for South Eastern Railway Apprentice Recruitment 2025–26, you must meet the following conditions:

Age Limit (as on 01.01.2026)

• Minimum Age: 15 years
• Maximum Age: 24 years

Age Relaxation

• SC/ST: +5 years
• OBC: +3 years
• PWD (PH): +10 years
• Ex-Servicemen: Additional 10 years (subject to conditions)

Age will be calculated strictly based on the Matriculation or Birth Certificate.

Educational Qualification

To apply for SER Apprentice:

• 10th Pass (Matriculation) with minimum 50% marks in aggregate
  AND
• ITI Certificate in the relevant trade
  issued by NCVT/SCVT

You are without ITI qualification in the trade you apply for are not eligible.

Medical Fitness

You must meet the medical fitness standards prescribed for apprenticeship training in Railways.
A Railway Medical Officer must certify the fitness using the format in Annexure-II.

Some trades have special physical disability criteria (OH/HH eligible depending on trade).

Selection Process – SER Apprentice 2025

Selection is purely merit-based, with NO written exam and NO interview.

The process is as follows:

Preparation of Merit List

The merit list will be prepared based on:

• Percentage of marks in 10th (all subjects counted)
• Minimum 50% marks is mandatory

ITI marks may also be considered in the final selection (as per trade requirements).

Tie-Breaking Criteria

If two candidates have the same marks:

1. Older candidate will be given preference.
2. If age is also same, the one who passed 10th earlier will be given preference.

Document Verification

If you are shortlisted you (1.5 times the vacancies) will be called for DV.

They must produce:

• 10th Marksheet & Certificate
• ITI Certificate & Marksheet
• Caste Certificate (if applicable)
• Disability Certificate (if applicable)
• Ex-Serviceman Certificate (for ESM category)
• Identity Proof & Photographs

Final Merit List

Prepared trade-wise and community-wise, equal to the number of slots.

You must also pass the medical fitness test.

Special Notes About Vacancy Filling

• If OBC vacancies remain unfilled, they may be filled by UR category.
• SC ↔ ST inter-change is allowed.
• PWD & ESM quotas are included within total vacancies, not additional.
• Ex-servicemen children also eligible under reservation rules.

Important Conditions

• Completion of Apprenticeship does NOT guarantee a job in Railways.
• 20% of Group-D posts may be reserved for trained apprentices, subject to rules.
• SER is not responsible for unsuccessful online payment due to server issues.
• Be aware of fraudulent coaching/touts.
• Any mismatch in certificates → application rejected.
• Invalid category certificates = application rejection.
