VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital Senior Resident Recruitment 2025 — Full Notification, Eligibility, Vacancy Details, Selection Process & Online Application

The VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi, has officially released the recruitment notification for 342 Senior Resident posts across various specialties. This recruitment will be conducted on a regular basis, strictly following the Residency Scheme of Government of India.

Overview of the Recruitment

The VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital Senior Resident Recruitment 2025 aims to fill a large number of specialist positions across 38 medical departments. The recruitment also includes backlog reserved vacancies, ensuring equal opportunity for you from various categories.

A total of 342 Senior Resident vacancies have been announced.

This includes:

• UR: 105
• EWS: 75
• SC: 48
• ST: 30
• OBC: 84

Additionally:

• 28 posts are reserved horizontally for PwBD candidates, including backlog vacancies.

Educational Qualifications

General Eligibility Pattern

To apply for any Senior Resident post, you  must have:

• MBBS degree
• Postgraduate Degree/DNB/Diploma in the concerned specialty
• Registration with Delhi Medical Council (DMC) (or DDC for Dental Specialties)

Different specialties require your respective PG qualifications as follows:

Examples:

Anaesthesia

• MBBS + PG Degree/DNB/Diploma in Anaesthesiology
• DMC registration mandatory

Cardiology

• MBBS + PG Degree/DNB/Diploma in Medicine
• DMC registration mandatory

Maxillofacial Surgery

• MDS in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
• DDC registration mandatory

Emergency Medicine

You are with PG in the following fields you are eligible:

• Emergency Medicine
• General Medicine
• Anaesthesiology
• Pulmonary Medicine
• General Surgery
• Trauma Surgery

Important Notes on Eligibility

• PG result (Degree/DNB/Diploma) must be declared before the last application date.
• For DNB candidates, both theory and practical results must be declared before last application date.
• You are with incomplete internship or pending results you are not eligible.

Pay Scale

If you are selected Senior Resident you will receive:

₹67,700 per month (Pay Level-11 as per 7th CPC)

(Equivalent to Pre-Revised PB-3 + Grade Pay ₹6600)

Plus:

• Dearness Allowance
• House Rent Allowance
• Transport Allowance
• Other benefits as per Central Government rules

This makes the gross salary highly attractive, ranging above ₹1,10,000 per month (approx., depending on allowances).

Age Limit

• General / EWS: 45 years
• SC / ST: 50 years
• OBC: 48 years
• PwBD: Relaxation as per Government of India rules

Application Fee

• Gen / EWS / OBC: ₹1200 (Non-Refundable)
• SC / ST / PwBD: No fee

Payment will be through the official online portal only.

Selection Process

The selection involves two stages:

1. Screening Test

• Mode: MCQ-based Written Exam
• Duration: 1 hour
• Maximum Marks: 60
• +1 mark for correct answer
• –0.25 negative marking for wrong answer
• No penalty for unattempted questions

You are scoring highest marks you will be shortlisted in a 3:1 ratio for each post.

2. Departmental Assessment (40 Marks)

Breakup:

• Assessment Chairman: 10 marks
• Subject Experts (3 x 10 marks): 30 marks
• Publications: Max 4 marks
• Paper Presentation in CMEs/Conferences: Max 3 marks
• Awards/Medals during MBBS & PG: Max 3 marks

Final Merit List

Final selection = Screening Test Marks + Assessment Marks

A waiting list panel will also be prepared.

Tenure and Service Conditions

• Tenure: 3 years (including previous residency at any Govt. institution)
• Initial appointment: 1 year, renewable annually
• Only one discipline can be selected
• Inter-hospital transfer is not allowed
• No TA/DA for exam or interview

• 10th Certificate (Age Proof)
• Caste/EWS/PwBD Certificate (if applicable)

• Passport size photo
• Signature
• Experience certificates (if any)
• NOC for Govt./PSU employees

Important Conditions

• You must apply online only through the official portal
• Only one application is allowed per candidate
• If you are ineligible you will be rejected at any stage
• Admit cards will be available only on online portal
• No separate postal communication will be sent
