Purpose of the Notification

This notification marks the first-ever State Level Selection Test (SLST) for Non-Teaching Staff (NTS) in recognized government-aided/sponsored schools in West Bengal. The purpose is to fill up vacant posts as per the guidelines under the West Bengal School Service Commission (Selection of Persons for Appointment to the Posts of Non-Teaching Staff) Rules, 2025 (NTS Rules 2025).

The selection process will follow the West Bengal School Service Commission Act, 1997, and subsequent amendments, ensuring transparency and fairness in recruitment.


Eligibility Criteria

1. Nationality

If you are a citizen of India you may apply for the posts of Non-Teaching Staff (Clerk or Group D) in recognized Government Aided/Sponsored Schools in West Bengal.

However, you  were identified as “tainted candidate” as per the Supreme Court Judgment and Order dated 3rd April 2025 in Civil Appeal No. 4800 of 2024 you are not eligible to apply.

3. Educational Qualifications

Qualifications obtained after the last date of receiving online applications will not be considered.

Application Process

1. Mode of Application

You can apply only through online mode via the official website www.westbengalssc.com.
No offline or other modes of application will be accepted.


2. Application Dates

4. Admit Card

  • Admit cards for the written examination will be available online only on the WBSSC website.
  • You must download and print their admit cards.

  • The date of downloading will be announced at least seven (7) days before the exam.

Selection Process

The recruitment process will include the following stages:

A. Clerk (Group C)

Selection will be based on:

  1. Written Examination
  2. Evaluation of Academic Performance
  3. Prior Experience
  4. Typing-cum-Computer Proficiency Test
  5. Interview

The merit list will be prepared based on the total marks obtained in these components as per Schedule I of the NTS Rules, 2025.


B. Group D Staff

Selection will be based on:

  1. Written Examination
  2. Evaluation of Academic Performance
  3. Prior Experience
  4. Interview

The merit list will be prepared as per Schedule II of the NTS Rules, 2025.


Note on Examination Pattern:

  • Question Papers will be set in English and Bengali.
  • Each post (Clerk and Group D) will have a separate written exam.
  • Only one mode of instruction and one region can be chosen for application.
  • No negative marking will be there in the examination.
  • One correct option per question will carry one mark.

Preparation of Merit Lists and Panels

After the written examination:

  1. The OMR sheets will be evaluated by WBSSC.
  2. Based on performance, merit lists will be prepared region-wise, medium-wise, and category-wise.
  3. For Clerk posts, evaluation will include academic score, experience, typing test, and interview.
  4. No re-evaluation of OMR sheets will be allowed.
  5. The final panel and waiting list will be published on the WBSSC website.

Validity of Panel and Waiting List

  • The validity of the merit list and waiting list will remain for one year from the date of first counselling.
  • The WBSSC may extend the validity by another six months, with prior government approval.

Medium of Vacancy

You must have passed the language that is the medium of instruction of the concerned school — as your first, second, or third language subject — in their secondary or higher-level examination.


Important Guidelines for Applicants

  1. Eligibility Verification:
    You must ensure they meet all eligibility criteria before applying. Appearance in the exam does not imply eligibility verification.
  2. Single Application Policy:
    • Multiple applications for the same post using different Candidate IDs will lead to disqualification.
    • Only the last submitted application will be considered valid.
  3. Data Entry Accuracy:
    • You must carefully fill in personal details such as Name, Father’s Name, Mother’s Name, and Date of Birth as per their Madhyamik or equivalent certificate.
  4. No TA/DA:
    No travel or daily allowance will be provided for attending exams or interviews.
