Candidates who have not studied the specified local language in their 10th or 12th standard will have to appear for a Local Language Proficiency Test (LPT) before the Personal Interview. Candidates who fail the LPT will not be considered for further selection.

However, candidates who produce their 10th or 12th standard certificate/marksheet showing that they studied the required local language as a subject will not have to appear for the LPT.


IOB LBO Eligibility Criteria 2026-27

Candidates should ensure that they satisfy all the eligibility conditions before applying.

1. Nationality

The notification permits candidates who are Indian citizens as well as certain other categories, including subjects of Nepal or Bhutan, eligible Tibetan refugees and specified persons of Indian origin, subject to the conditions and Government of India eligibility certificate requirements mentioned in the notification.

2. Age Limit

The age and educational qualification cut-off date is 01 August 2026.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess a Degree/Graduation in any discipline from a university recognized by the Government of India or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government.

The candidate must have the valid marksheet/degree certificate proving that they are a graduate on the date of online registration. Candidates must also enter their graduation percentage while filling out the application form.

Therefore, candidates from any recognized graduation discipline can apply, subject to fulfilment of the other eligibility requirements.


IOB LBO Salary 2026-27

The Local Bank Officer is recruited in JMGS-I / Scale-I.

The pay scale mentioned in the notification is:

₹48,480 – 2,000/7 – ₹62,480 – 2,340/2 – ₹67,160 – 2,680/7 – ₹85,920

DA, HRA, CCA and other applicable allowances/perquisites will be provided according to the bank’s rules in force from time to time.

Probation Period

Selected candidates will remain on probation for 2 years of active service from the date of joining the bank. Confirmation will be governed by the applicable Officers’ Service Regulations.

Service Bond

Selected candidates are required to execute a Financial Service Indemnity Bond of ₹2,00,000 for rendering a minimum of 3 years of service.


IOB LBO Selection Process 2026-27

The selection process consists of:

  1. Online Examination
  2. Language Proficiency Test (where applicable)
  3. Personal Interview
  4. Final Merit List

Candidates who qualify in the online examination will be considered for the LPT where applicable and subsequently for the Personal Interview.

The examination contains 140 objective-type questions carrying 200 marks. There is a penalty for wrong answers: one-fourth (0.25) of the marks assigned to the question will be deducted. There is no penalty for an unanswered question.

Minimum Qualifying Marks

There are no sectional qualifying marks. The minimum aggregate qualifying marks in the online examination are:

  • 35% for Unreserved candidates
  • 30% for Reserved candidates

The cumulative marks of all sections will be considered for shortlisting.


Personal Interview

The Personal Interview carries 100 marks.

The minimum qualifying marks in the interview are:

  • 50% for Unreserved candidates
  • 45% for Reserved candidates

Candidates must also qualify in the LPT wherever applicable.

Final Selection

The final selection will be based on the combined performance in the Online Examination and Personal Interview.

Posting Details
