SAC Recruitment 2026: Apply Online for 48 JRF, Research Associate & Project Scientist-I Posts

Space Applications Centre (SAC), Ahmedabad, under the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Department of Space, has released Advertisement No. SAC:02:2026 for the recruitment of Junior Research Fellows (JRF), Research Associates (RA), and Project Scientist-I. A total of 48 vacancies are available under this recruitment drive.

Junior Research Fellow – 33 Posts

The JRF positions cover research areas including semiconductor technology, RF and microwave electronics, micro/nano electronics, physics, photonics, atmospheric sciences, oceanography, geophysics, computer science, geo-informatics and remote sensing.

Research Associate – 8 Posts

Research Associate positions require higher qualifications and/or relevant research, teaching, design or development experience depending on the particular post.

Project Scientist-I – 7 Posts

The Project Scientist-I positions include specialisations related to Geophysics, Cryosphere Studies, Ecology, Environmental Sciences, Forestry, Remote Sensing & GIS, Crustal Deformation Studies, Water Resources Engineering, Hydrology, Soil & Water Engineering, RF & Microwave and Applied Physics.

SAC Recruitment 2026 Eligibility

The educational qualification varies according to the post code. Candidates must carefully check the qualification prescribed for the particular post they wish to apply for.

For posts where M.E./M.Tech. is prescribed, candidates require a minimum of 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA/CPI on a 10-point scale.

For posts where M.Sc./B.E./B.Tech. qualification is prescribed, candidates require a minimum of 65% marks or 6.84 CGPA/CPI on a 10-point scale.

Additional Requirement for JRF Posts

For JRF Post Codes 01 to 07, candidates must also possess one of the prescribed qualifying credentials, such as:

• CSIR-UGC NET, including Lectureship/Assistant Professorship
• GATE
• National-level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments, agencies and institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER, etc.

The result/score card of the qualifying examination should be valid as on 30 September 2026.

SAC Recruitment 2026 Age Limit

The age will be calculated as on 30 September 2026. Age relaxation is applicable to eligible reserved-category candidates as per the notification and Government rules.

The notification specifically states that 30 September 2026 will be the cut-off date for purposes such as calculation of age and acquiring the essential qualification.

Candidates whose relevant final-year/final-semester result has not been declared by 30 September 2026 are not eligible to apply.

SAC Recruitment 2026 Salary / Fellowship

The notification provides the following monthly fellowship/remuneration structure:

The applicable level for Research Associates depends on the candidate’s qualification and experience as prescribed in the notification.

JRFs will initially be engaged for one year, extendable based on performance and project requirements, with the maximum engagement period limited to five years. Research Associates can be engaged for a maximum of three years, while Project Scientist-I positions are initially for one year or the project duration and are co-terminus with the project.

SAC Recruitment 2026 Selection Process

The selection process will primarily involve an Interview.

• Relevance of qualification and research background

The decision regarding shortlisting will be taken by the SAC committee.

The shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview. The shortlist and interview schedule will be published on the SAC website, while interview call letters will be sent to shortlisted candidates through email. The final selection panel will be prepared based on performance in the interview.

Therefore, candidates should prepare thoroughly in their respective technical/research specialisation in addition to reviewing their academic background and project/research work.

• Black-and-white photographs are not allowed

The signature must also be a JPEG file below 1 MB and should follow the prescribed 7:2 aspect ratio.
