CPCL Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria

1. Junior Engineering Assistant-IV – Production
Candidates should possess a 3-year Diploma in Chemical/Petroleum/Petrochemical Engineering/Technology or B.Sc. with Chemistry as a major subject from a recognized institution/university.
General/OBC/EWS candidates require at least 60% marks, while SC candidates applying against reserved positions require 55% marks.
Candidates must also have a minimum of three years of relevant post-qualification experience in continuous process units in industries such as Refining, Chemical, Petrochemical, Fertilizer or Gas Processing.
2. Junior Engineering Assistant-IV – Mechanical
Applicants should have a 3-year Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institute/university.
The minimum marks requirement is 60% for General/OBC/EWS candidates and 55% for SC/PwBD candidates against reserved positions.
At least three years of relevant post-qualification experience in maintenance of rotary and stationary equipment in refinery, petrochemical, chemical, fertilizer, power plant or large industrial establishments is required.
3. Junior Engineering Assistant-IV – Electrical
Candidates should possess a 3-year Diploma in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics Engineering with the prescribed percentage of marks.
The required experience is at least three years in maintenance of electrical equipment such as motors, transformers, generators, HT/LT switchgear, UPS, battery banks, battery chargers and variable frequency drives in continuous process industries or large industrial establishments.
4. Junior Engineering Assistant-IV – Instrumentation
Candidates should have a 3-year Diploma in Instrumentation, Instrumentation & Electronics, Instrumentation & Control, or Electronics & Communication with the prescribed marks.
Three years of relevant experience in process control instrumentation maintenance is required. Candidates should also have knowledge of preventive/breakdown maintenance, troubleshooting, field instruments, transmitters and control valves. Familiarity with DCS/PLCs, P&ID and logic control diagrams is also mentioned.
Important Qualification Rules
CPCL has specified that higher professional qualifications such as B.E./B.Tech, MBA, CA, LLB, MCA or equivalent qualifications are not eligible for these advertised posts. Candidates must possess the prescribed qualification and should not suppress information regarding higher qualifications.

CPCL Recruitment 2026 Selection Process
The CPCL selection process consists of the following stages:
Computer Based Test (CBT) → Document Verification → Skill, Proficiency and/or Physical Test (SPPT) → Medical Fitness → Final Selection
The CBT will carry 120 marks and will have two sections:

The General Aptitude section covers Verbal Ability, General Knowledge, Reasoning/Logical Deduction and Numerical Ability. The Discipline Knowledge section will contain questions related to the relevant technical discipline.
The CBT duration is 2 hours, and ¼ mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer. Candidates generally need at least 40% marks to be shortlisted, while a 5% relaxation in the minimum qualifying marks is applicable to SC/ST/PwBD candidates against reserved positions.
Candidates will be shortlisted for SPPT in a 1:3 ratio, subject to securing the minimum qualifying marks and fulfilling the notified eligibility conditions. SPPT is qualifying in nature. Final merit will be prepared based on CBT marks among candidates who qualify in SPPT, subject to medical fitness.
Salary and Benefits
Selected candidates will be appointed in the Non-Supervisory Cadre, Grade IV, under the IDA pay scale of ₹25,000–₹1,05,000. The starting basic pay will be ₹25,000 per month.
In addition to basic pay, selected employees will be eligible for benefits such as DA, HRA/Self-Lease, PF, Gratuity, LTC/LFA, medical reimbursement and superannuation benefits according to CPCL rules.
Application Fee
General, EWS and OBC candidates are required to pay a ₹500 non-refundable registration fee through the online payment gateway.
The fee can be paid using Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card or UPI.
SC, ST, PwBD, Ex-Servicemen and Women candidates are exempted from paying the application fee.
