IOCL Apprentice Recruitment 2026 – Apply Online for 1,524 Trade & Technician Apprentice Vacancies Across Four Refineries

Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), one of India’s leading Maharatna Public Sector Enterprises and a Fortune Global 500 company, has announced a large-scale Apprentice Recruitment Drive 2026 for candidates seeking technical and non-technical apprenticeship training. The recruitment covers 1,524 Apprentice vacancies in four major refinery units: Paradip, Gujarat, Mathura, and Bongaigaon.

The apprenticeship programme is conducted under the Apprentices Act, 1961/1973 (as amended) and is designed to provide practical industrial training to eligible candidates from different educational backgrounds. Applicants who have completed 12th Pass, ITI, Diploma, B.Sc., B.A., or B.Com can apply for various apprentice disciplines based on their qualifications.

One of the biggest advantages of this recruitment is that there is no written examination. Selection will be based entirely on the marks secured in the prescribed qualification, followed by document verification and medical fitness. Refinery-wise Vacancy Distribution

Indian Oil has released separate notifications for four refinery units. The vacancies available at each refinery are shown below.

Apprentice Posts Available

Candidates can apply for only one trade or discipline depending on their educational qualification.

These apprenticeships are offered in technical as well as office-related disciplines, giving opportunities to candidates from science, commerce, engineering, and vocational backgrounds.

Educational Qualification

Eligibility depends upon the apprentice trade selected by the applicant.

Important Qualification Conditions

• Qualification must be obtained from a recognized institution.
• Regular full-time courses only are eligible.
• Distance education and correspondence qualifications are not accepted.
• Candidates awaiting results are not eligible.
• Higher professional qualifications such as BE/B.Tech, MBA, MCA, CA, or LLB are not eligible for apprenticeship.

Minimum Marks Required

Candidates belonging to the General, EWS, and OBC categories must secure at least 50% aggregate marks in the prescribed qualification.

For SC, ST, and PwBD candidates applying against reserved vacancies, the minimum qualifying marks required are 45%.

Candidates possessing ITI qualifications in the Fitter trade need only pass the examination.

Age Limit

Applicants must satisfy the prescribed age criteria as on 30 June 2026.

Minimum Age: 18 Years

Age relaxation is available according to Government of India rules.

Training Duration

The duration of apprenticeship varies according to the trade.

During this period, apprentices will receive structured industrial training under experienced professionals at the respective refinery units.

Who Can Apply?

Candidates from the following educational backgrounds can submit applications:

• 12th Pass
• ITI (Fitter)
• Diploma Holders
• B.Sc. Graduates
• BA Graduates
• B.Com Graduates

However, candidates should ensure that they fulfil every eligibility condition mentioned in the official notification before applying.

Selection Process

IOCL follows a completely merit-based recruitment process for apprentice engagement.

The stages include:

1. Merit List

A merit list will be prepared using the aggregate percentage of marks obtained in the prescribed qualification.

2. Document Verification

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to verify their original certificates and supporting documents.

3. Medical Examination

Candidates who successfully complete document verification must undergo a medical fitness examination as prescribed under the Apprentices Act.

4. Final Engagement

Candidates declared medically fit and whose documents are verified successfully will receive the apprenticeship engagement offer.

There is no written examination and no interview for this recruitment.

Stipend

Selected apprentices will receive a monthly stipend according to the provisions of the Apprentices Act, 1961/1973 and the applicable Corporation guidelines.

The official notification does not specify a fixed stipend amount.

In addition, eligible apprentices will receive safety equipment, accident insurance coverage, and leave benefits as per applicable rules.

Reservation

Reservation benefits are available for eligible candidates belonging to:

• Scheduled Caste (SC)
• Scheduled Tribe (ST)
• Other Backward Class – Non Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL)
• Economically Weaker Section (EWS)
• Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD)

Reservation is applicable as per Government norms and the vacancy distribution of each refinery.
