Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, has released a notification for the engagement of Medical Consultants on a part-time fixed-tenure contract basis at NCL hospitals/dispensaries. The recruitment is for various medical disciplines, including Anaesthesia, Surgery, Pathology, Paediatrics, Medicine, Ophthalmology, OBS/GYN, Dermatology, ENT, Orthopaedics, Psychiatry, Radiology, GDMO and Dental Surgeon.

NCL Medical Consultant Recruitment 2026 – Overview

Northern Coalfields Limited has invited applications from eligible medical professionals for engagement as Consultant (Medical Specialist) and Consultant (GDMO) on a fixed-tenure contract basis.

The engagement is initially for one year, with the possibility of extension by another year based on satisfactory performance and approval of the Competent Authority. The maximum age limit prescribed in the notification is 70 years during the period of contract.

NCL Medical Consultant Eligibility Criteria

Candidates should carefully check the educational qualification and experience requirements before submitting the application.

Consultant (Medical Specialist)

For the post of Consultant (Medical Specialist), candidates should possess an MBBS degree from a recognized Institute/College approved by the Medical Council of India, along with the required Post Graduate Degree/DNB/Post Graduate Diploma in the concerned specialty.

For retired Medical Executives of CIL/its subsidiaries and other PSUs/Government Organizations, the notification specifies additional conditions relating to previous service, performance and experience.

The notification states that retired Medical Specialists/retired GDMOs should have obtained a minimum “Good” rating in the last five years of service and should not have been awarded any punishment under the applicable CDA Rules of the Company during the last five years.

Consultant (GDMO)

For the Consultant (GDMO) position, candidates should possess an MBBS degree from a recognized Institute/College approved by the Medical Council of India.

For specialists/GDMOs other than retired Medical Executives, the notification mentions:

• Minimum 07 years’ experience in the concerned specialty for Consultant (Medical Specialist).
• Minimum 03 years’ experience as GDMO for Consultant (GDMO).

NCL Medical Consultant Age Limit

The maximum age prescribed for engagement is:

Maximum Age Limit: 70 Years during the period of contract.

The contract is initially for one year and may be extended for another period of one year subject to satisfactory performance and approval of the Competent Authority. The engagement cannot continue beyond the Consultant attaining the age of 70 years.

Salary / Honorarium

The engagement is on a part-time contractual basis. The notification specifies the following consolidated honorarium:

The notification also provides conditions relating to the number of visits/sessions and working hours. For Medical Specialists, the Consultant is required to visit the concerned hospital for a minimum of three days a week during the contract period. The minimum working hours are stated as 04 hours per day, with a minimum of 06 visits per month and 12 visits in a month being mandatory as specified in the notification.

For GDMO Consultants, the notification specifies a minimum of three days a week, with 08 working hours per day and minimum visit requirements as mentioned in the notification.

Work Description

The selected Consultants will provide medical services at the concerned NCL hospitals/dispensaries.

The duties may include:

• Outpatient Department (OPD) services.
• In-patient services where applicable.
• Indoor services.
• Emergency-related duties where required.
• Participation in Village Health Camps.
• Medical/health-related camps.
• Other duties assigned by the competent hospital/dispensary authorities.

In case of emergency, additional visits may be required with prior approval of the Chief of Medical Services (CMS), NCL.

Selection Process

The notification states that the engagement will be made through an open recruitment mode based on the prescribed qualification and experience criteria, with the selection process involving an interview/selection process.

The cut-off date for consideration of eligibility criteria is 21 September 2026, as mentioned in the notification.
