SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026: Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the official notification for the Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination, 2026. The recruitment is being conducted for Group ‘C’ posts including Lower Divisional Clerk (LDC)/Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), Data Entry Operator (DEO) and Data Entry Operator Grade ‘A’ in various Ministries, Departments, Offices and other Government organizations.
According to the official notification, approximately 2,536 tentative vacancies are available. The final and post-wise/category-wise vacancy details will be updated later by SSC. Online applications are invited from 07 September 2026 to 07 October 2026.

SSC has specified that the examination will be conducted for Group ‘C’ posts such as LDC/JSA and Data Entry Operators in various Central Government Ministries, Departments, Offices, Constitutional Bodies, Statutory Bodies and Tribunals.
SSC CHSL Vacancy 2026
SSC CHSL 2026 has announced approximately 2,536 tentative vacancies. However, these vacancies are not final at this stage. SSC will determine the final vacancies after scrutiny of details received from the concerned User Departments.
The Commission will subsequently publish updated post-wise and category-wise vacancy details on its website. SSC has also clarified that it does not collect State-wise or Zone-wise vacancy information.

SSC CHSL Posts and Salary 2026
SSC CHSL provides candidates with an opportunity to join Central Government offices in different clerical and data-entry positions.

SSC CHSL Eligibility Criteria 2026
Candidates should carefully check the eligibility requirements before submitting the application.
Educational Qualification
For LDC/JSA and DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’, except specified DEO posts, candidates must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.
However, for DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’ in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Staff Selection Commission and Ministry of Culture, candidates must have passed 12th Standard in Science stream with Mathematics as a subject from a recognized Board or equivalent.
Candidates appearing in the 12th examination can also apply, but they must possess the required qualification on or before 07 October 2026.
The result of the qualifying examination must have been declared by the Board/University by the cutoff date. Merely processing the result by the cutoff date will not satisfy the educational qualification requirement.
Age Limit
The age limit is 18 to 27 years as on 01 August 2026.
Candidates should have been born not before 02 August 1999 and not later than 01 August 2008.

SSC CHSL Selection Process 2026
The SSC CHSL examination consists of Tier-I and Tier-II Computer Based Examinations. Tier-II also includes the Computer Knowledge Test and Skill Test/Typing Test.

SSC will shortlist candidates for Tier-II based on their performance in Tier-I. Final merit is prepared on the basis of performance in Tier-II Sections I and II, subject to qualifying the required sections of Tier-II.
SSC CHSL Tier-I Exam Pattern 2026
Tier-I consists of four sections with 100 questions for 200 marks.

The normal duration is 60 minutes, with sectional timers of 15 minutes for each subject. Candidates eligible for the specified scribe facility receive additional time as prescribed.
Tier-I is an objective multiple-choice examination. There is a negative marking of 0.50 marks for every wrong answer.
SSC CHSL Tier-II Exam Pattern 2026
Tier-II is conducted in two sessions on the same day.

Section-IV
Skill Test/Typing Test is conducted according to the post applied for.
There is 1 mark negative marking for each wrong answer in Sections I, II and III of Tier-II.
SSC CHSL Typing Test & Skill Test
For LDC/JSA, candidates can select either Hindi or English as the typing medium.
- English Typing Speed: 35 words per minute
- Hindi Typing Speed: 30 words per minute
- Typing Test duration: 10 minutes
The Hindi typing test must be performed in Mangal Font.
For DEO posts, the Skill Test is mandatory:
- Specified DEO posts: 15,000 key depressions per hour
- Other DEO posts: 8,000 key depressions per hour
Both tests are qualifying in nature.
SSC CHSL Application Fee 2026
The application fee is ₹100.
Fee Exemption
Women candidates and candidates belonging to:
- SC
- ST
- PwBD
- Eligible Ex-Servicemen
are exempted from payment of the application fee.
Fee can be paid online through BHIM UPI, Net Banking, Visa, MasterCard, Maestro or RuPay Debit Card.
SSC CHSL Application Form Correction 2026
SSC has provided a correction window from:
14 October 2026 to 16 October 2026 up to 11:00 PM.
Candidates can modify and resubmit their application up to two times.
- First correction: ₹200
- Second correction: ₹500
Correction charges are applicable irrespective of category or gender.
