United India Insurance Company Limited (UIIC) has released the official notification for Administrative Officer (Scale I) Recruitment 2026 for Generalists and Hindi Officers. The recruitment notification was issued on 07 September 2026, inviting applications from eligible candidates for a total of 225 Administrative Officer posts.

Out of the total vacancies, 200 posts are for Administrative Officer – Generalists and 25 posts are for Administrative Officer – Hindi Officers. Educational Qualification for Generalists

For the Administrative Officer – Generalists post, candidates must possess a Graduate Degree/Post Graduate Degree in any discipline from a recognized university.

Candidates must have secured:

• 60% marks in the qualifying degree examination for general candidates.

Educational Qualification for Hindi Officers

For the Hindi Officer post, candidates require a Master’s Degree meeting one of the prescribed combinations involving Hindi and English.

The notification permits candidates with a Master’s Degree in Hindi with English as a compulsory/elective subject or medium, or a Master’s Degree in English with Hindi as a compulsory/elective subject or medium. Certain combinations involving a Master’s Degree in another subject with Hindi and English are also accepted, subject to the conditions specified in the notification.

The minimum marks requirement is 60%, while SC/ST/PwBD candidates require 55%.

Candidates whose university awards CGPA/OGPA/SGPA instead of percentage must produce the appropriate conversion certificate. The notification specifically states that 59.99% will be treated as less than 60%.

UIIC AO Age Limit 2026

The age limit is calculated as on 30 June 2026.

• Minimum Age: 21 years
• Maximum Age: 30 years
• Candidate must have been born between 30 June 1996 and 30 June 2005, both dates inclusive.

Age Relaxation

Cumulative relaxation may be available where applicable, subject to the maximum age not exceeding 45 years. Candidates claiming age relaxation must produce the required certificates during the recruitment process.

The application fee differs according to the candidate’s category.

UIIC AO Selection Process 2026

The UIIC Administrative Officer selection process consists of:

1. Preliminary Examination
2. Main Examination
3. Descriptive Test
4. Interview

Candidates must qualify at the required stage/section to proceed further. Merely meeting the educational and age eligibility criteria does not guarantee that a candidate will be called for the examination or interview.

UIIC AO Exam Pattern 2026

Tier I – Preliminary Examination

The Preliminary Examination is common to both Generalists and Hindi Officers. It carries 100 marks and has a total duration of 60 minutes, with each section separately timed.

English is the medium for the English Language section, while Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude are available in English/Hindi.

Tier II – Main Examination for Generalists

The Generalist Main Examination contains an objective test of 250 marks followed by a 30-mark descriptive test.

The descriptive test is for 30 marks and includes English Letter Writing – 10 marks and Essay – 20 marks, with a duration of 30 minutes.

Tier II – Main Examination for Hindi Officers

For Hindi Officers, the objective Main Examination carries 200 marks.

The Professional Knowledge section covers Hindi and English grammar/vocabulary, knowledge of Acts/Rules relating to Official Language implementation, and English-to-Hindi and Hindi-to-English translation.

The Hindi Officer descriptive test carries 50 marks and includes English Essay, Hindi Essay, Hindi Letter Writing, English-to-Hindi Translation and Hindi-to-English Translation. The duration is 60 minutes.

Negative Marking

There is a penalty for incorrect answers in both Preliminary and Main objective examinations. One-fourth of the marks assigned to the question will be deducted for every wrong answer. No penalty is applicable for unanswered questions.

UIIC AO Final Selection & Interview

Candidates qualifying in the Main Examination will be shortlisted for the interview. For the final merit list, the Main Examination and Interview are considered in the ratio of 75:25.

For Generalists, the Preliminary Examination and Descriptive Test marks are not considered for preparing the final merit list. For Hindi Officers, the notification states that the Main Examination, including Objective and Descriptive Tests, and Interview are considered in the 75:25 ratio.

The notification states that candidates may be called for interview up to three times the vacancies of the respective category/discipline.

UIIC AO Salary 2026

The Administrative Officer Scale I post offers a basic pay scale of:

₹82,485 – ₹4,050 (14) – ₹1,39,185 – ₹4,390 (4) – ₹1,56,745

In addition to basic pay, eligible officers will receive applicable allowances and benefits according to company rules.

UIIC AO Posting and Service Conditions

The initial period of posting would be for a minimum of five years, and requests for transfer to a place of choice will not be entertained during that period. Candidates can subsequently be posted or transferred to any location in India according to company requirements.

Selected candidates will initially be appointed on one-year probation, which may be extended at the company’s discretion. During probation, officers may have to undergo training and are required to pass the non-life Licentiate Examination conducted by the Insurance Institute of India for confirmation of service.

There is also a five-year service undertaking/bond, including the probation period, with financial consequences for voluntary resignation before completion of the bond period as specified in the notification.
